As a wholesaler, you know your product intimately. You know that it is going to thrill the end consumer. But now you have to convince your customers deciding between you and your competitors that yours is the choice, second to none. How are you going to do that?
When Too Much is Just Too Much
Lengthy essays about the features of what you are selling are going to bore your buyer. The technological age we operate in means that buyers are bombarded by too much of everything. Choices become complicated and you do not want to make that harder with rows upon rows of the nitty-gritty of your products. Instead, they need to know how your products will benefit them and what problems they will solve.
Often, a potential buyer has to read through a lot of words when they navigate your website. Replacing technical jargon with everyday words that help your buyer connect your product (the solution) to their need (the problem) helps them feel comfortable and confident about buying from you, the wholesaler.
Thinking through the Headline
Often people only read the first and last three words. It is important to keep that in mind when creating headlines. Remember too that on average, five times as many people read the headlines versus reading the body of the text.
Here’s a good headline from Grainger, found in the image above:
“For the ones who build it, fix it, move it and maintain it – There’s Grainger.”
Here’s our suggestion
Data derived from the transactions will tell you that your customers have specific buying preferences with your digital solution. In B2B businesses, the decision to buy does not rest on one individual like in a B2C scenario. You would be doing the B2B buying representative a favour by etching a succinct description so they can present it in a simple yet impactful way to the decision-makers.
You will probably, at this point, be thinking of who you can bestow this ‘additional’ responsibility of writing to in your marketing team. You may want to consider hiring a copywriter. A good copywriter will research extensively about your business and industry. They will help you articulate what you are selling and make this appealing and understandable to your potential buyers.
